Mr. Mullany joined Salem Partners in 1999, and since then has focused on Valuation assignments, financial advisory and business development in the Media and Entertainment sector.

In addition to his role as a senior media banker. Mr. Mullany’s additionally acted as an Expert Witness in the litigation regarding the Terminator franchise between our client, Pacificor and the producers of “Terminator: Salvation” , Halcyon Group, which declared bankruptcy shortly after the release of that film.  He also provided expert witness testimony in the Stephen Bochco vs. 20th Century Fox litigation, regarding the television series,”NYPD Blue” concerning Bochco’s allegations of self-dealing by Fox for the syndication rights to the show.

Mullany’s clients over the years have included Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner regarding the purchase of the Rysher Entertainment  library and Landmark Theaters; the co-financing of $1 billion dollars of films by Hannover Leasing, the Munich-based leasing company, which involved modeling performance projections for 30 proposed films in the 2003-2005 timeframe, from which the leasing company’s shareholders chose 10 films to co-finance, including “The Bourne Supremacy”, “The Bourne Ultimatum”, “Mr. Bean’s’ Holiday”, “Jarhead” and “The Interpreter”.  The assignment also involved updating the valuations annually after release.

We provided Financial Opinions to Bank of America Leasing and Wachovia Structured Finance regarding 20 films financed under Sec 181 arranged by Grand Army Entertainment prior to the end of 2008.

Other current and past clients include Village Roadshow, Capital Films, DHX Media, Millennium Entertainment, Mike Young Productions, Screen Media, Hearst Entertainment, Nelvana/Corus Entertainment, among other.

M&A assignments that Salem has been involved in include the sale of Trimark Entertainment to Lionsgate, the sale of Fireworks Entertainment to ContentFilm,  the sale of the film libraries  of Gaylord Entertainment and Rysher Entertainment to Qualia Capital,  the sale of  the  Crown Media Holdings library to RHI Entertainment, advisory on the sale of ICM Film and Television Library, the Sale of Millennium Entertainment,  the sale of Sundance Cinemas, and the sale of other film libraries bound to confidentiality.

Prior to joining Salem Partners, Mr. Mullany was a Senior Vice President in the Entertainment and Media Group of Houlihan Lokey, Century City, CA. He was a senior member of the team that focused on the major studios and a large number of independent companies in the filmed entertainment business.

Prior to working with Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Mullany was a senior executive for Think Entertainment, a television production company partnership between the actress and producer, Shelley Duvall and John Malone’s TCI , United Artists Communications Inc. and Newhouse Broadcasting.

Previous to Think Entertainment, Mr. Mullany was a VP for the Entertainment Industries Group of Wells Fargo Bank, Beverly Hills, CA, where he headed a team of lenders involved in single picture and corporate financing of the independent sector of the television and film industry. Prior to Wells Fargo, Mr. Mullany was a VP at Union Bank and Senior Account Officer at Citibank. Mr. Mullany is a graduate of Regis High School (N.Y.), LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY, where he received a B.A. in Economics, and the School of Business at the University at Albany (S.U.N.Y.), where he received his M.B.A.
