Laura Rister is an award winning Los Angeles based film and television producer at Untitled Entertainment. She recently produced the critically lauded film THE TALE starring Laura Dern, distributed worldwide by HBO Films. Among Laura’s credits (in alpha order) are the films ALL IS LOST (Oscar nomination), BREATH (9 Australian Academy nominations), CUT BANK, ELVIS AND NIXON, THE FREE WORLD, HOUSE OF Z, THE ICEMAN, IO, LAWLESS, LOVELACE, LOVESONG (Independent Spirit nomination), the Oscar nominated and Independent Spirit Award winning MARGIN CALL, THE MOST HATED WOMAN IN AMERICA and THE WORDS. Laura is currently in post production on Japanese auteur Sion Sono’s first English language film, a local Chinese language film called SUMMER KNIGHT, as well as a 1980s set film driven by the music of the band THE SMITHS. In television, she currently has projects set up with HBO, Lionsgate and Vice. She previously served as VP of Production, Development & Casting at Miramax Films in New York and Los Angeles. Her first love was journalism, and she got her start in media working at CNN in Washington, DC working on the political news programs. Laura is a proud member of the Producers Guild, the Television Academy, Women in Film, and the political action group, The LA Women’s Collective.
