Roy Salter is a senior advisor at FTI Consulting and is based in Los Angeles. Mr. Salter is a leader of the Valuation and Financial Advisory Services group.

Mr. Salter has extensive experience across a broad range of industries in providing forecasting, strategic advisory and transaction support, fairness and solvency opinions; collateral valuation opinions; ASC 805 purchase price allocation and goodwill impairment opinions; ASC 820 portfolio valuations for private equity funds, hedge funds, banks and other capital market constituents; ASC 718 incentive compensation and cheap stock opinions; and ASU 2009-13 revenue recognition for multi element licensing arrangements; intangible asset valuations and dispute resolution.

Mr. Salter joined FTI Consulting with its acquisition of Salter Group in December 2012, a leading independent financial and strategic advisory firm, which he co-founded in January 2003 and that specialized in providing strategic advisory and transaction support, business and intangible asset valuations, financial opinions, financial and strategic analysis, forecasting and other transaction support covering a broad spectrum of industries.

Prior to Salter Group, Mr. Salter served as a principal and managing director at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin, where he established and co-managed the firm’s global industry group practices for 15 years, including entertainment and media, life sciences, telecom-media-technology and diversified industries. While there, Mr. Salter established and co-directed the operating methods associated with the firm’s industry group practices.

Before that, Mr. Salter was a senior officer at Wells Fargo Capital Markets, where he provided mezzanine financing and mergers and acquisitions services to select bank clients. In addition, he served as a senior officer with its Commercial Banking group and focused on providing loans to middle-market companies in Southern California.

Mr. Salter has taught numerous courses and lectured in many venues on subjects pertaining to entertainment and media finance including the UCLA Graduate School of Business, Harvard University, Cal Tech, The European Media Business School and many others.  Mr. Salter recently joined faculty at Loyola Marymount University to develop and teach a course covering “Introduction to Entertainment and Media Finance”, and is utilizing the materials being prepared for this course as a foundation for a textbook he is drafting covering the same subjects.

Mr. Salter is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Business Administration at Grenoble Ecole de Management in France, holds an M.B.A. from Loyola Marymount University and a B.S. in business administration, with an emphasis in business economics and investment management from California State University at Northridge.  Mr. Salter is a founder and member of the board of directors of California United Bank.  Mr. Salter is a founder, board member and principal of Royalty Review Council, an independent royalty administration company, a member of the academic advisory board for California State University-Northridge, and advises numerous boards of directors for various companies throughout the world.
